Dear Friends & Family,

I hope this update finds everyone well & enjoying summer! And guess what? This update is a GOOD ONE!! Yippie! :)

In October it will be 3 years since Blake was diagnosed. Can you believe it? I’ll never forget it; it was the day after our Granddaughters 1st birthday. She’s now almost 4 and her baby sister is already 2!!

A quick recap:  back in May, after a few ER visits, an ambulance ride and 2 hospital stays, Blake decided to stop his 3rd chemo regimen. Dr. Whisenant (Oncologist) believes in chemo breaks and felt that Blake’s body, mind & spirit needed a break. He believes Blake may be able to have at least a 4 month break before another decision on chemo has to be made. It’s now been 3 months and so far so good! His CEA (tumor marker) continues to be stable and the PET scans remain clear.

I know many of you have noticed that (often times) Blake doesn’t seem to feel well. Of course, I always think it’s the dreaded cancer but now believe it’s the damage from cancer & chemo. I think there’s a fine line between the cancer itself and the damage from treatment. Right now Blake’s chosen to - walk the line.

I know you’ll agree; I’m not surprised that Blake continues to defy the odds. He’s messing with statistics & I love it!

Take care everyone!

With Love, Blake & Kathy
