Tumor Marker & CT Scan

It's been a while since I've updated but wanted to let you know that Blake is doing very, very well! He seems to be feeling better then he has in a long, long time! It's wonderful. He's busy doing some exciting things at work which he loves! I can't believe it's already been 6 months since his last chemo treatment. I guess time really does go by when you're having fun! And, speaking of fun??!! We're heading off to South Bend to see Utah play Notre Dame! Hopefully, Utah will decide to bring their team to play instead of that team that showed up last weekend!

A quick update on the "c" word. Blakes most recent tumor marker (CEA) increased from 2.0 to 2.8. With everything we've learned over the last few months, I'm not surprised that it went up. Even though it was expected, it's still a bummer! For Blake, the # doesn't have much significance but the trend does - so, upward movement = no good.

A CT scan was done on Monday and, overall it was a pretty good scan. At least I think it was!! Something did show but they're not sure what it is. Apparently, it was on the previous scan as well but wasn't picked up. The radiologist doesn't think "it" is cancer. Since this scan couldn't even pick up the abdominal tumors that we know are there; I've completely lost my faith in the scans. As Dr. Kim says, it's not perfect but it's the best thing we've got!

Well, that's it for now. Hope everyone is well & living life to the fullest!!

With love, Kathy

P.S. Go Utes!
